Set in the 1990s in the Philippines, the story follows two best friends, Jo (voiced by H.E.R.) and Raissa (voiced by Liza Soberano), who are about to part ways when Raissa prepares to study in America. While celebrating their final night together, they find a mysterious portal leading to Nakali, a fantastical and supernatural island filled with creatures from Filipino folklore like the manananggal and tiyanak. To return home, they must navigate this magical world and face its dangers before they completely forget each other.
